Roger Johnson - Chairman |

Roger is a retired Teacher/ Principle. His Major areas of interest were in Behaviour Management, Timetabling, Geography and History teaching. Roger has been involved in sport from the 1970's and coached and umpired netball until the 1990's. Volunteered at State/ National and International Events including World Championships and Commonwealth Games. Roger was an active member of the GSA Board during the early 1990's and is also currently President of Venia Gymsports. |

Born in England in 1963, moved to Australia at age 11, he started his career in 1980 as an apprentice fitter and turner with Hills Industries. He has experience in manufacturing, mining, research and development and construction working in a variety of roles ranging from tradesperson to plant engineer to senior project manager including a 12 month contract working in California, the USA with Sola Optical during 1996. He is currently employed at ElectraNet (Transmission Network Service Provider) as a senior customer project engineer working on large wind farm projects and major load customers such as BHP. He has an associate diploma in Mechanical Engineering, a degree in Manufacturing Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). He has spent 10 years as a chapter council member for the Australian Institute of Project Managers (AIPM) with a variety of roles from event coordinator to treasurer and was the convenor of the AIPM National Conference in 2010. Growing up he was involved with soccer and athletics, he is still a keen cyclist and when time permits golf. He started his gymnastics involvement by assisting the recreation program at the Hub in 1997 when two of his three daughters started; the third started a couple of years later when she was 4. He became more involved when the girls moved into the competition squad and he completed his level 1 (WAG) accreditation in 2000. Since that time he has gained valuable experience from visiting other clubs in South Australia and interstate (whilst on business trips), talking to coaches, watching training techniques, (both MG & WG). He has gain experience with recreation gym (GFA), kindergym (as a father), MG, WG and the HP Program as a parent of a gymnast and spent approximately 40 hours with the senior coaches. Experience with tennis, athletics, diving, aerobics, cheerleading, adult gymnastics have all been gained over the last few years through a commitment to learn as much as possible to enhance his coaching abilities. |

Damian Young |

Damian is currently a Non Executive Director of LogiCamms Limited (a listed engineering services company) and works part time for LogiCamms as a consultant. Recent positions include : · SA Manager for LogiCamms · Manager of Worley Parsons small project delivery team providing project services to BHPB at Olympic Dam. · Chief Operating Officer for GasNet ( now APA) – responsible for the natural gas pipeline system in Victoria · Manager of Cooper Basin operations located at Moomba and then Manager of Engineering located in the Adelaide Office for Santos. Previous work experience includes 15 years with Mobil at Adelaide Refinery including roles as General Manager, Maintenance Manager and Operations Manager. Damian has been fortunate in obtaining a number of overseas work assignments including 8 months in West Virginia with Union Carbide and 7 months in London, which have provided some exposure to life outside Australia. Damian’s professional qualifications include a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide and a Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne. There has been a long association with homeless people including 15 years as a member of the management committee responsible for administering the Vincentian Centre – a homeless persons accommodation facility in Whitmore Square – and a number of accommodation houses in the metropolitan area of Adelaide. Damian is married to Cleon with a daughter Danielle, who is also a Chemical Engineer, and keeps fit playing golf and through regular visits to the gym. |

Martyn Evans |

Martyn was educated at The University of Adelaide (BSc) and at the SA Institute of Technology (Grad. Dip Bus. Admin.) and served on the University of Adelaide Council for 18 years until 1992. He started a long career in community service and politics as a member of the Elizabeth City Council from 1975-84, serving as Mayor from 1981-84. Martyn entered the South Australian House of Assembly in 1984 as the Member for Elizabeth and went on to become the Minister for Health, Family and Community Services and Minister for the Aged in 1992. Martyn was then elected as a member of the Commonwealth House of Representatives from March 1994 to October 2004, representing the Division of Bonython, South Australia. He was a member of the Opposition Shadow Ministry from 1996 to 2001 in the portfolios of Science, Information Technology and Resources. |
